Covet

Title: Covet(The Clann #2)
Author: Melissa Darnell
Expected publication: October 1, 2012
Source: Publisher through Netgalley
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Pages: 488
Rating:

Goodreads review: Dangerous to be together. Painful to be apart.Savannah Colbert knows she broke up with Tristan Coleman for the right reasons. Most of all, to keep from killing him with her new vampire abilities. But try telling her heart. Now, lost in a sea of hostile Clann faces, Sav tries to come to terms with what she's becoming and what that means for her future. And that someone is doing their best to bully her into making a terrible mistake.
Tristan can't believe Sav won't even talk to him. If being apart is her decision, fine. Just don't expect him to honor it. But even as he prepares to fight for the girl he loves, forces beyond their control take them both in directions neither could have foreseen or prepared for.
A reckoning is coming…and not everyone will survive.
Fate's thoughts: I'm usually worried that the second book of a series will be bad, but this book was great. It carried on where the first book left off. This book was filled with action and of course we cant forget the romance. In the first book Savannah was always getting protected by Tristan, but in this book she was strong for herself. She had to deal with her body changing and her break-up, but she was still strong. I also grew to like Tristan even more, if that's possible. He never gave up on his relaitionship with Savannah. Although it did annoy me how throughout the book he strung another girl along. I also loved the best friend, Anne, she was definetly kick-ass in this book. her Ex-boyfriend Ron turns out to know about the Clann. We were also introduced to a few new characters.  The Clann and the Vampires also had a lot going on, which definetly kept the book interesting. The ending was satisfying, but at the same time left me dying for more. I can not wait until the next installation of this series.
This copy was provided by the publisher though Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

Eve

Author:Anna Carey
Published:October 4, 2011
Genre: Post apocalyptic
Pages: 336
Rating:

Goodreads review: The year is 2032, sixteen years after a deadly virus—and the vaccine intended to protect against it—wiped out most of the earth’s population. The night before eighteen-year-old Eve’s graduation from her all-girls school she discovers what really happens to new graduates, and the horrifying fate that awaits her.
Fleeing the only home she’s ever known, Eve sets off on a long, treacherous journey, searching for a place she can survive. Along the way she encounters Caleb, a rough, rebellious boy living in the wild. Separated from men her whole life, Eve has been taught to fear them, but Caleb slowly wins her trust...and her heart. He promises to protect her, but when soldiers begin hunting them, Eve must choose between true love and her life.
Fate's thoughts: This book did not live up to the hype. It was a great, fast paced read but it didn't live up to the hype. There are a couple of books that i can name that Eve reminded me of. Once i started reading this book i was hooked, but when i put it down i wasn't really urged to finish it. I felt slightly disappointed. I recommend it to anyone that wants a good quick read.

Forgotten

Title: Forgotten
Author: Cat Patrick
Published: May 1st 2012
Genre: Paranormal
Pages:288
Rating:
Goodreads review:Each night at precisely 4:33 am, while sixteen-year-old London Lane is asleep, her memory of that day is erased. In the morning, all she can "remember" are events from her future. London is used to relying on reminder notes and a trusted friend to get through the day, but things get complicated when a new boy at school enters the picture. Luke Henry is not someone you'd easily forget, yet try as she might, London can't find him in her memories of things to come.
When London starts experiencing disturbing flashbacks, or flash-forwards, as the case may be, she realizes it's time to learn about the past she keeps forgetting-before it destroys her future.

Fate's thoughts: This book was great. It was original and new. When i started this book i was intrigued but i had little expectation. As the book passed i enjoyed it more and more. My only complaint is that, other than the main character, the other characters weren't realistic. Other that that, i loved this book, it was a great break of fresh idea.

Blue Bloods(blue bloods #1)

Title: Blue bloods
Author: Melissa DE la Cruz
Published: April 25, 2006
Genre: Vampires
Pages: 302
Rating: 3 and 1/2 out of 5
Goodreads review: When the Mayflower set sail in 1620, it carried on board the men and women who would shape America: Miles Standish; John Alden; Constance Hopkins. But some among the Pilgrims were not pure of heart; they were not escaping religious persecution. Indeed, they were not even human. They were vampires. The vampires assimilated quickly into the New World. Rising to levels of enormous power, wealth, and influence, they were the celebrated blue bloods of American society.
The Blue Bloods vowed that their immortal status would remain a closely guarded secret. And they kept that secret for centuries. But now, in New York City, the secret is seeping out. Schuyler Van Alen is a sophomore at a prestigious private school. She prefers baggy, vintage clothes instead of the Prada and pearls worn by her classmates, and she lives with her reclusive grandmother in a dilapated mansion. Schuyler is a loner...and happy that way. Suddenly, when she turns fifteen, there is a visible mosaic of blue veins on her arm. She starts to crave raw food and she is having flashbacks to ancient times. Then a popular girl from her school is found dead... drained of all her blood. Schuyler doesn't know what to think, but she wants to find out the secrets the Blue Bloods are keeping. But is she herself in danger?
Fate's thoughts: I honestly enjoyed this book. It put a cool twist on the vampire idea, which was nice. I don't have much thought on it. There is a love triangle, and i am team Oliver. The only reasons i gave this book 3 and 1/2 stars instead of 5 was that one, it was a bit too slow and eventless for me and two, i would have preferred it if it was first person form Schuyler's Pov. However i will be reading the next installment in the series.

Taken by storm(raised by werewolves #3)

Title: Taken by storm(raised by werewolves #3)
Author: Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Published: May 22, 2012
Genre: Werewolves
Pages: 314
Rating:
Goodreads review: Bryn knows first-hand that being the alpha of a werewolf pack means making hard decisions, and that being human makes things a thousand times worse. She's prepared to give up her humanity, but the wolf who promised to Change her is waiting - though for what, Bryn doesn't know. Still human, she must take her place in the werewolf Senate, the precarious democracy that rules the North American packs. Standing side by side with werewolves who were ancient long before she was ever born is enough of a challenge, but Bryn soon learns that the Senate has been called to deal with a problem: the kind of problem that involves human bodies, a Rabid werewolf, and memories that Bryn, Chase, and the rest of their pack would rather forget. With bodies stacking up and political pressure closing in from all sides, Bryn and her pack are going to have to turn to old enemies and even older friends for help - especially when it starts to look like this time, the monster might be one of their own
Fate's thoughts: This book was amazing. I wont really talk about it in detail because i don't want to spoil it. The beginning was a bit slow.... but it got better. When we got to the middle, there were so many twists thrown at me that half the time my jaw was on the floor. I was never able to guess what was going to happen next, which was great. The ending might have killed me a little. Sooo much sadness. It was really open ended and left questions. Please don't let this be the end, i need more.

Nevermore(Nevermore #1)

Title:Nevermore(nevermore #1)
Author:Kelly Craegh
Published:August 31, 2012
Genre:Paranormal Romance
Pages:534
Rating:
Goodreads review: Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.
Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.
As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.
His life depends on it.
Fate's thoughts: This book was original and fresh. It was like nothing i have ever read before. At the beginning Isobel is the typical stereotype cheerleader and she's not very happy when she gets paired with Varen Nethers for a school project. Varen is cold, sharp tongued and mysterious. He also carries around his journal. When Isobel gets a glimpse at the contents of said journal, she's intrigued. She slowly starts losing the cheerleader act and gets closer to Varen. And.... the story takes off from there. If i haven't already mentioned it, this book is amazing. The only reason it gets four stars, is that it was a bit too slow for my taste. I can't till i get my hands on the next installment in this great series.

Perfect Chemistry

Title: Perfect Chemistry(perfect chemistry #1)
Author: Simone Elkeles
Genre: Contemporary romance
Publication: December 23, 2008
pages: 359
Rating:
Goodreads Synopsis: A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created 'perfect' life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.
Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.
In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.
Fate's thoughts: This book is amazing. It's about Alex and Brittany. On the outside it may seem that they are polar opposites, but if you look closer you realize that they share a lot of things in common. When they're partnered in chemistry on the first day of school, they re not very thrilled. As they get to know each other they slowly fall for each other. My favorite thing in this book was how long it took for Brittany and Alex to fall for each other. It was slow and realistic. I also loved the ending. It was my favorite part of the story. It fit and wasn't random, although i kind of predicted some of it. All in all this book is amazing and i recommend it for anyone that likes emotion and romance.

Storm(Elemantal #1)

   Title: Storm(Elemental #1)
Author: Brigid Kemmerer
Publication: April 24, 2012
Pages: 353
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating:

Goodreads synopsis: Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys - all the ones she doesn't want. Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They're powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.
And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.
Secrets are hard to keep when your life's at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who's hiding the most dangerous truth of all.
The storm is coming.
Fate's thoughts: As you guys may know i read the second book in the series, Spark before i read this one, so i had spoiled a small proportion of the book for myself. Fortunately, this did not effect my thoughts on the book. In fact reading the second book first made me even more excited for the first one. So, my thoughts on this book, It was Amazing i loved it. This book is 3rd person and from two Povs, Chris' and Becca's. I actually didn't really mind the third person narration because it kind of lets us judge the boys(and other characters) based on what we see, not what the MC sees. The main characters are(obviously) Chris and Becca. I thought Becca was really sweet and nice and the things that happen to her were horrible, but she was brave and moved on. Although a few things about her were spoiled from the second book, but i didn't really mind. It was also really interesting seeing things from Chris's point of view. His thoughts on his brothers were totally different from Gabriels', but am totally team Gabriel all the way(swoon). I really didn't like Hunter in this book. In the second book i liked him better. We just didn't get along. I thought he was a liar and used people for his benefit. However, once i find out why he was like that, i softened up a bit but not enough to completely like him. So far i love this series and i cant wait for the next one. However the third book will be from Hunter's point of view, which I'm a little wary about, but we'll see what happens.

The Lifeguard

Title: The Lifeguard
Author: Deborah Blumenthal
Publication: March 1, 2012
Pages: 277
Source: Publisher through netgalley
Rating:

Goodreads synopsis:It's an unsettled summer for Sirena. Back in Texas, her family's splitting apart, but here in Rhode Island, at the cottage of her aunt, it's a different world. There are long days at the beach and intriguing encounters with Pilot, the lifeguard with shamanic skills. Sirena explores her obsession with Pilot and discovers his mysterious--almost magical--gifts.
Fate's thoughts: When i received this book i thought it would be a fun contemporary read about summer and a boy. Instead what i got was something totally different. Sirena's summer hasn't been the best so far. And then she meets Pilot, the lifeguard and there's just something different about him. I didn't hate this book, i just didn't like it as much as i wished i had. It was a bit too slow for me and the relationship between Sirena and Pilot was a bit too fast. The paranormal element in this book was pretty unique, so that was interesting. All in all, i enjoyed parts of this book, but it isn't really my cup of tea.

ARC-Send me a sign

Title: Send me a Sign
Author: Tiffany Schmidt
Expected publication: Oct. 2, 2012
Source: Publisher through netgalley
Pages: 384
Rating:
Goodreads synopsis: Mia is always looking for signs. A sign that she should get serious with her soccer-captain boyfriend. A sign that she’ll get the grades to make it into an Ivy-league school. One sign she didn’t expect to look for was: “Will I survive cancer?” It’s a question her friends would never understand, prompting Mia to keep her illness a secret. The only one who knows is her lifelong best friend, Gyver, who is poised to be so much more. Mia is determined to survive, but when you have so much going your way, there is so much more to lose. From debut author Tiffany Schmidt comes a heart-wrenching and ultimately uplifting story of one girl’s search for signs of life in the face of death.
Fate's thoughts: It's official, Gyver Russo is my favorite male character ever!!!!!!!!! When this book started out, Mia's life was perfect. she had a perfect boyfriend, the best friends, more that great grades and popularity. That all suddenly changes when Mia gets diagnosed with leukemia. As you may know from the synopsis, she decides not to tell anyone except for Gyver, her guy best friend. And the story starts from there. I loved this book, it was great and my only complaint is that she didn't hook up with Gyver until the end and no this isn't a spoiler because we all know it was going to happen. Other than that the book was great. I loved all the characters except for her mom. I hated her mom so much, but i guess each person copes differently. I was really surprised about the ending. i was expecting one thing but got something totally different, which is great. All in all this book was beautiful, however i do recommend a big box of tissues.

ARC-Broken by A. E. Rought

Title: Broken
Author: A. E. Rought
Publisher: Strange Chemistry
Expected publication: January 8, 2012
Source: Publisher through Netgalley
Pages: 320
Rating:
Goodreadds Synopsis: Imagine a modern spin on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein where a young couple's undying love and the grief of a father pushed beyond sanity could spell the destruction of them all.
A string of suspicious deaths near a small Michigan town ends with a fall that claims the life of Emma Gentry's boyfriend, Daniel. Emma is broken, a hollow shell mechanically moving through her days. She and Daniel had been made for each other, complete only when they were together. Now she restlessly wanders the town in the late Fall gloom, haunting the cemetery and its white-marbled tombs, feeling Daniel everywhere, his spectre in the moonlight and the fog.
When she encounters newcomer Alex Franks, only son of a renowned widowed surgeon, she's intrigued despite herself. He's an enigma, melting into shadows, preferring to keep to himself. But he is as drawn to her as she is to him. He is strangely... familiar. From the way he knows how to open her locker when it sticks, to the nickname she shared only with Daniel, even his hazel eyes with brown flecks are just like Daniel's.
The closer they become, though, the more something inside her screams there's something very wrong with Alex Franks. And when Emma stumbles across a grotesque and terrifying menagerie of mangled but living animals within the walls of the Franks' estate, creatures she surely knows must have died from their injuries, she knows.
Fate's thoughts: This is first retelling of Frankenstein that i have read and i was not disappointed. This book was amazing. I don't know the exact story so i kind of just let this one unfold before my eyes. At the beginning of the book, Emma is still grieving the loss of her boyfriend, Daniel. A few pages in  Emma meets Alex, a new boy in school. From the moment they meet Emma spots confusing similarities between Alex and Daniel. And the story takes off from there. The thing about retelling is that they're they're in danger of being predictable, but this book wasn't all predictable. Some things i was able to predict like the ending because, well it's the ending. But there were also some twists that surprised me. this book was filled with raw love, heartache, loss and emotion. It was haunting, romantic and creepy all rolled in one and the adaption to the original storyline was smooth. I recommend this to anyone that likes to read. however there are a few scenes that were a very disturbing and creepy

Wicked Jealous:a love story

Author:Robin Palmer
Published:July 19, 2012
Pages:272
Rating:

Goodreads synopsis: Simone never saw herself as the “cute girl”—she was always the chunky, band tee wearing, France-obsessed smart girl. But now that Simone’s a few pounds lighter and sporting a new retro style, things have gotten, well, weird. Her crush Jason seems to actually know she exists. And when Simone’s soon-to-be stepmonster Hillary stops ignoring her, Simone knows something is up. When Simone’s brother offers to let her move in with him and his six roommates on the beach for the summer, Simone jumps at the chance. But living with seven very different college boys isn’t exactly helping her land her very own happily ever after.
Fate's thoughts: As you guys may know i love story retelling so i was immediately drawn to this one. I liked it however i was a little disappointed. in Wicked Jealous, you can clearly see the relation to snow white. Simone is snow white, her stepmother is the evil queen and her brother and his six roommates were the seven dwarfs. However there is a little twist at the end that makes this book unique. The only issues i had with this book was that 1.it was a little too slow for my taste and 2.it was ppredictable, other that that this book was great. I recommend this to everyone that likes a cute and fun read.

Lucy's cousin Christabel has come to live in Violet Hill, and adjusting to the difference between life in a small mountain town and her home in the city is difficult enough. The strict curfew that Lucy's parents enforce is the worst part. Something really dangerous couldn't possibly happen in this tiny town.
But Christabel has noticed some mysterious happenings, and it seems like Lucy, her boyfriend Nicholas and his brother Connor are all in on a secret that Christabel doesn't understand—one that seems deadly serious. Although she won't admit it, Christabel would love to be in on any secret with Connor Drake. But when she is kidnapped by the ruthless Hel-Blar vampires, Christabel must cause more and more trouble in Violet Hill, Lucy and Connor finally fill Christabel in on all the undead drama. Together, they must find a way to stamp out the Hel-Blar for good.
Fate's thoughts: As always these book were perfect. They both had the right amount of both romance and action. They were past passed and interesting. Of course there was this huge cliff hanger at the end of Bleeding Hearts, I can't wait till i get my hands on the next one.

Arc- Guardian (Halflings #2)

Title: Guardian (Halflings #2)
Author: Heather Burch
Expected publication: October 9, 2012
source: Zonderkidz through Netgalley
Pages: 320
Rating:
Goodreads synopsis: Vigilance. The mission to safeguard Nikki Youngblood depends on the fragile alliance of two half-angel, half-human guardians, both struggling with intense feelings for the girl who has been assigned to their care. Mace, steadfast and deeply in love, wants to protect Nikki at all costs, while Raven's loyalty to Nikki finds him advocating for her independence and battling his own darker inclinations. At the same time, Nikki finds it harder and harder to choose between the two heavenly beings she may never have. Dangers intensify, and tensions between Mace and Raven flare as the purpose of their mission becomes clear. Can their defenses hold up to master manipulator Damon Vessler and the powerful secret he holds regarding Nikki's heritage? Can anyone protect Nikki from her true purpose and destiny?
Fate's thoughts: I don't want to spoil the series for anyone so i wont go in detail. Also if you haven't read the first book in the series, please do.  I loved this book. Its filled with action and discovery. We learn some really unsuspected things in this book. Although, i was frustrated with the romance because quite frankly i felt like she was stringing both Mace and Raven along. She did kind of lean toward Mace however, since I'm team Raven, I was a very unhappy camper but i got over it. I liked all the characters except Mace, as i said I'm team Raven so that might affect my Pov, but i just didn't agree with how he acted. He was way too overprotective of Nikkie and uptight and all alpha male. Nikkie's character was great in this installment of the series. She did have her damsel i distress moments but most of the time she was bad ass, especially in the end. Oh my god, the ending nearly killed me. Worst Cliff hanger ever(in a good way). The ending was completely open with both the romance and basically everything else. i cant wait for the next installment and i completely recommend this series to all ages 14+.

Goodreads synopsis:Gabriel Merrick plays with fire. Literally.
Sometimes he can even control it. And sometimes he can’t. Like the fire that killed his parents.
Gabriel has always had his brothers to rely on, especially his twin, Nick. But when an arsonist starts wreaking havoc on their town, all the signs point to Gabriel. Only he’s not doing it.
More than Gabriel’s pride is at stake -- this could cost him his family, maybe his life. And no one seems to hear him. Except a shy sophomore named Layne, a brainiac who dresses in turtlenecks and jeans and keeps him totally off balance. Layne understands family problems, and she understands secrets. She has a few of her own.
Gabriel can’t let her guess about his brothers, about his abilities, about the danger that’s right at his heels. But there are some risks he can’t help taking.
The fuse is lit…
Fate's thoughts: Before I start my rant on how good this book is I'm going to admit to the sad fact that i still haven't read the first book in the series. Yes, Yes I know, shame on me. I truly regret it after reading this book. I didn't really have to read the first book in order to understand this book, but i still cant wait till i get my hands on it. That's just how good this book is.
Ten pages into this book, i fell completely in love with Gabriel(most of the time i wanted to give him a big bear hug). He's a really complicated character (did i mention that i love complicated characters). He's also a sweet and kind guy, but he's also broken and has anger issues. He's very self conscious of the fact that he cant control his power, especially after everything he's been through. He's flawed, but sweet and completely adorable.
I also love the family in this book. The boys fight and aren't always pleased with each other, but are always loyal to each other. I have to say, i was hoping that Spirit  Was going to be about Nick. Although there is that novella that i can not wait for.
There was also Layne, the love interest. i liked her character. She had her own dysfunctional family that she had to deal with. The dynamic between herand her brother was great, i loved it. We get to see into her mind for a good portion of the book. I was immediately curious about her and the fact that she had secrets of her own. Her relationship with Gabriel felt right. it didn't feel forced or fake. They fit together like puzzle pieces. I loved them together.
All in all, this book was amazing, it was filled with heat(no pun intended) and was a beautiful read. I can not wait for the next installment in this lovely series.
An advanced copy was provided by the publisher through Netgalley.
