Perfect Chemistry

Title: Perfect Chemistry(perfect chemistry #1)
Author: Simone Elkeles
Genre: Contemporary romance
Publication: December 23, 2008
pages: 359
Rating:
Goodreads Synopsis: A fresh, urban twist on the classic tale of star-crossed lovers.
When Brittany Ellis walks into chemistry class on the first day of senior year, she has no clue that her carefully created 'perfect' life is about to unravel before her eyes. She's forced to be lab partners with Alex Fuentes, a gang member from the other side of town, and he is about to threaten everything she's worked so hard for: her flawless reputation, her relationship with her boyfriend, and the secret that her home life is anything but perfect.
Alex is a bad boy and he knows it. So when he makes a bet with his friends to lure Brittany into his life, he thinks nothing of it. But soon Alex realizes Brittany is a real person with real problems, and suddenly the bet he made in arrogance turns into something much more.
In a passionate story about looking beneath the surface, Simone Elkeles breaks through the stereotypes and barriers that threaten to keep Brittany and Alex apart.
Fate's thoughts: This book is amazing. It's about Alex and Brittany. On the outside it may seem that they are polar opposites, but if you look closer you realize that they share a lot of things in common. When they're partnered in chemistry on the first day of school, they re not very thrilled. As they get to know each other they slowly fall for each other. My favorite thing in this book was how long it took for Brittany and Alex to fall for each other. It was slow and realistic. I also loved the ending. It was my favorite part of the story. It fit and wasn't random, although i kind of predicted some of it. All in all this book is amazing and i recommend it for anyone that likes emotion and romance.

Storm(Elemantal #1)

   Title: Storm(Elemental #1)
Author: Brigid Kemmerer
Publication: April 24, 2012
Pages: 353
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating:

Goodreads synopsis: Becca Chandler is suddenly getting all the guys - all the ones she doesn't want. Ever since her ex-boyfriend spread those lies about her. Then she saves Chris Merrick from a beating in the school parking lot. Chris is different. Way different: he can control water just like his brothers can control fire, wind, and earth. They're powerful. Dangerous. Marked for death.
And now that she knows the truth, so is Becca.
Secrets are hard to keep when your life's at stake. When Hunter, the mysterious new kid around school, turns up with a talent for being in the wrong place at the right time, Becca thinks she can trust him. But then Hunter goes head-to-head with Chris, and Becca wonders who's hiding the most dangerous truth of all.
The storm is coming.
Fate's thoughts: As you guys may know i read the second book in the series, Spark before i read this one, so i had spoiled a small proportion of the book for myself. Fortunately, this did not effect my thoughts on the book. In fact reading the second book first made me even more excited for the first one. So, my thoughts on this book, It was Amazing i loved it. This book is 3rd person and from two Povs, Chris' and Becca's. I actually didn't really mind the third person narration because it kind of lets us judge the boys(and other characters) based on what we see, not what the MC sees. The main characters are(obviously) Chris and Becca. I thought Becca was really sweet and nice and the things that happen to her were horrible, but she was brave and moved on. Although a few things about her were spoiled from the second book, but i didn't really mind. It was also really interesting seeing things from Chris's point of view. His thoughts on his brothers were totally different from Gabriels', but am totally team Gabriel all the way(swoon). I really didn't like Hunter in this book. In the second book i liked him better. We just didn't get along. I thought he was a liar and used people for his benefit. However, once i find out why he was like that, i softened up a bit but not enough to completely like him. So far i love this series and i cant wait for the next one. However the third book will be from Hunter's point of view, which I'm a little wary about, but we'll see what happens.

The Lifeguard

Title: The Lifeguard
Author: Deborah Blumenthal
Publication: March 1, 2012
Pages: 277
Source: Publisher through netgalley
Rating:

Goodreads synopsis:It's an unsettled summer for Sirena. Back in Texas, her family's splitting apart, but here in Rhode Island, at the cottage of her aunt, it's a different world. There are long days at the beach and intriguing encounters with Pilot, the lifeguard with shamanic skills. Sirena explores her obsession with Pilot and discovers his mysterious--almost magical--gifts.
Fate's thoughts: When i received this book i thought it would be a fun contemporary read about summer and a boy. Instead what i got was something totally different. Sirena's summer hasn't been the best so far. And then she meets Pilot, the lifeguard and there's just something different about him. I didn't hate this book, i just didn't like it as much as i wished i had. It was a bit too slow for me and the relationship between Sirena and Pilot was a bit too fast. The paranormal element in this book was pretty unique, so that was interesting. All in all, i enjoyed parts of this book, but it isn't really my cup of tea.

ARC-Send me a sign

Title: Send me a Sign
Author: Tiffany Schmidt
Expected publication: Oct. 2, 2012
Source: Publisher through netgalley
Pages: 384
Rating:
Goodreads synopsis: Mia is always looking for signs. A sign that she should get serious with her soccer-captain boyfriend. A sign that she’ll get the grades to make it into an Ivy-league school. One sign she didn’t expect to look for was: “Will I survive cancer?” It’s a question her friends would never understand, prompting Mia to keep her illness a secret. The only one who knows is her lifelong best friend, Gyver, who is poised to be so much more. Mia is determined to survive, but when you have so much going your way, there is so much more to lose. From debut author Tiffany Schmidt comes a heart-wrenching and ultimately uplifting story of one girl’s search for signs of life in the face of death.
Fate's thoughts: It's official, Gyver Russo is my favorite male character ever!!!!!!!!! When this book started out, Mia's life was perfect. she had a perfect boyfriend, the best friends, more that great grades and popularity. That all suddenly changes when Mia gets diagnosed with leukemia. As you may know from the synopsis, she decides not to tell anyone except for Gyver, her guy best friend. And the story starts from there. I loved this book, it was great and my only complaint is that she didn't hook up with Gyver until the end and no this isn't a spoiler because we all know it was going to happen. Other than that the book was great. I loved all the characters except for her mom. I hated her mom so much, but i guess each person copes differently. I was really surprised about the ending. i was expecting one thing but got something totally different, which is great. All in all this book was beautiful, however i do recommend a big box of tissues.

ARC-Broken by A. E. Rought

Title: Broken
Author: A. E. Rought
Publisher: Strange Chemistry
Expected publication: January 8, 2012
Source: Publisher through Netgalley
Pages: 320
Rating:
Goodreadds Synopsis: Imagine a modern spin on Mary Shelley's Frankenstein where a young couple's undying love and the grief of a father pushed beyond sanity could spell the destruction of them all.
A string of suspicious deaths near a small Michigan town ends with a fall that claims the life of Emma Gentry's boyfriend, Daniel. Emma is broken, a hollow shell mechanically moving through her days. She and Daniel had been made for each other, complete only when they were together. Now she restlessly wanders the town in the late Fall gloom, haunting the cemetery and its white-marbled tombs, feeling Daniel everywhere, his spectre in the moonlight and the fog.
When she encounters newcomer Alex Franks, only son of a renowned widowed surgeon, she's intrigued despite herself. He's an enigma, melting into shadows, preferring to keep to himself. But he is as drawn to her as she is to him. He is strangely... familiar. From the way he knows how to open her locker when it sticks, to the nickname she shared only with Daniel, even his hazel eyes with brown flecks are just like Daniel's.
The closer they become, though, the more something inside her screams there's something very wrong with Alex Franks. And when Emma stumbles across a grotesque and terrifying menagerie of mangled but living animals within the walls of the Franks' estate, creatures she surely knows must have died from their injuries, she knows.
Fate's thoughts: This is first retelling of Frankenstein that i have read and i was not disappointed. This book was amazing. I don't know the exact story so i kind of just let this one unfold before my eyes. At the beginning of the book, Emma is still grieving the loss of her boyfriend, Daniel. A few pages in  Emma meets Alex, a new boy in school. From the moment they meet Emma spots confusing similarities between Alex and Daniel. And the story takes off from there. The thing about retelling is that they're they're in danger of being predictable, but this book wasn't all predictable. Some things i was able to predict like the ending because, well it's the ending. But there were also some twists that surprised me. this book was filled with raw love, heartache, loss and emotion. It was haunting, romantic and creepy all rolled in one and the adaption to the original storyline was smooth. I recommend this to anyone that likes to read. however there are a few scenes that were a very disturbing and creepy
This ARC was procided by the publisher through Netgalley.

Wicked Jealous:a love story

Title:Wicked Lovely
Author:Robin Palmer
Published:July 19, 2012
Pages:272
Rating:

Goodreads synopsis: Simone never saw herself as the “cute girl”—she was always the chunky, band tee wearing, France-obsessed smart girl. But now that Simone’s a few pounds lighter and sporting a new retro style, things have gotten, well, weird. Her crush Jason seems to actually know she exists. And when Simone’s soon-to-be stepmonster Hillary stops ignoring her, Simone knows something is up. When Simone’s brother offers to let her move in with him and his six roommates on the beach for the summer, Simone jumps at the chance. But living with seven very different college boys isn’t exactly helping her land her very own happily ever after.
Fate's thoughts: As you guys may know i love story retelling so i was immediately drawn to this one. I liked it however i was a little disappointed. in Wicked Jealous, you can clearly see the relation to snow white. Simone is snow white, her stepmother is the evil queen and her brother and his six roommates were the seven dwarfs. However there is a little twist at the end that makes this book unique. The only issues i had with this book was that 1.it was a little too slow for my taste and 2.it was ppredictable, other that that this book was great. I recommend this to everyone that likes a cute and fun read.

Together, they must find a way to stamp out the Hel-Blar for good.
Fate's thoughts: As always these book were perfect. They both had the right amount of both romance and action. They were past passed and interesting. Of course there was this huge cliff hanger at the end of Bleeding Hearts, I can't wait till i get my hands on the next one.
