Goodreads synopsis: There can only be one alpha.

Bryn is finally settling into her position as alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack—or at least, her own version of what it means to be alpha when you’re a human leading a band of werewolves. Then she finds a teenage boy bleeding on her front porch. Before collapsing, he tells her his name is Lucas, he’s a Were, and Bryn’s protection is his only hope.

But Lucas isn’t part of Bryn’s pack, and she has no right to claim another alpha’s Were.  With threats—old and new—looming, and danger closing in from all sides, Bryn will have to accept what her guardian Callum knew all along. To be alpha, she will have to give in to her own animal instincts and become less human. And, she’s going to have to do it alone.

Bryn faces both the costs, and the rewards, of love and loyalty, in this thrilling sequel to Raised by Wolves

fate's thoughts: At first i was worried that i wouldn't like the second installment of the series as much as the first one, but when i started reading, all doubt was gone. This book is awesome. i enjoyed it very much. This book picks up a while after the end of Raised by Wolves. Bryn is now alpha of the Cedar Ridge Pack. And she's doing well until a very bloody were shows up at her front door asking her for help. In order for Bryn to help him she must make some very important decisions or risk her packs safety.

I loved Bryn in this book. She was strong, responsible, loyal and never failed to do what had to be done to keep her pack safe. This book is mainly focused on how she deals with the fact that she's a human alpha to a pack of weres. She has to deal with many obstacles thrown in her and her packs way. She was a very strong heroine and was not a whiny drama queen.
Devon was one of my favorite characters in this book. He was funny and kind and made me melt. He's extremely loyal, to the point of risking his life without being possessive or smothering. Overall he's adorable. I can't really help liking him more than Chase because well, i know nothing almost nothing about him. Bryn even said it herself, at one point of the book. I really hope we get to know him better in the next book. Lucas, Lucas, Lucas, i truly felt sorry for him when we first met him. He was weak and beat to a bloody pulp. I never guessed or even thought of that little twist in the end, i was shocked. Anyway, i really liked Ali in this book. She was once again really strong and kind. By the end of the book she does something that made me realize just how strong she is. This book was fast pace and action packed. It definitely passed the second book test. I can't wait for the next installment.
