Title:The golden lily

Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Goodreads synopsis: Sydney Sage is an Alchemist, one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets—and human lives.
Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.
But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age–old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.

Fate's thoughts: Let me just say. the last few pages i felt like punching Sydney in the face, along with the author. WHYYY?

the beginning and middle of the book just weren't really "WHOA" material. But the ending threw me into "WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED" mode. I was mentally screaming.

Adrian grew in this book. He worked on his family and drinking issues. What bothers me is that he was only doing it because he was around Sydney. he didn't really do it for himself.

I mainly liked the Sydney and Adrian moments. Even though nothing really happens throughout the book until the end i still thought they were cute.I just adore how Adrian calls Sydney Sage. i don't know what it is, i just find it adorable. But i do wish some Action had happened between them before the last few pages of the book.

Sydney kept surprising me. she kept on growing and changing a little. in the last book she was really uncomfortable around vampires, but in this book she got pretty good around them. Her beliefs kind of kept her from really growing but i still can't wait to see where she goes in the next book.

Jill and Eddie also grew a little. Jill was really sweet and she finally realizes a few thing she needed to see. Eddie kind of gave up on the idea of him and Jill, which really pissed me off. i was kind of hoping they would get to it.( i mean kissing, in case it isn't obvious)
Angeline also really grew on me. but I'm still Team Jill for Eddie.

All in all i thought this was a pretty good second book, but i also felt that it was lacking something.
